Why Go BPA Free?

Easy Lifestyle Hacks

It can be complicated and confusing to know where to start when looking to improve your health. Surprisingly, one of the areas that I discovered on my own health journey was the dangers of plastic, cans of food and even till receipts! What do they all have in common? Unless stated otherwise, they likely contain a chemical called BPA (Bisphenol-A).

BPA is a chemical found in many plastics and the concern is that it can leech from our packaging and products into your food and drink and absorb into the skin when using till receipts, boarding passes and anything created on a thermal printer (unless it's stated as being BPA free).

Research has shown that exposure can disrupt the healthy functioning of the endocrine system (think hormones) but many studies believe that day-to-day exposure is not great enough to have a damaging effect. Growing numbers, however, disagree and are working to remove as many BPA products from their lives as possible and I, personally, am part of that group.

While it's likely impossible to avoid exposure completely, there are some simple changes you can make in your lifestyle to minimise it. This is the topic for a recent YouTube short. FYI, I bought these fantastic straws from The Silicone Straw Company which I use every day and they currently have a promotion on their already reasonably priced sets:

(Straws bought and paid for - not an ad).
