Why I'm Using Organic Skincare

Trying Green People Skincare & Makeup

Thyroids are funny things and since I've been following a functional medicine protocol to reduce Hashimoto’s antibodies it's meant moving away from chemical-laden products (including food packaging!) and making organic choices where possible.  This includes food, drink, skincare, haircare, makeup, toothpaste...hormone disruptors and chemicals that don't help your overall wellbeing are everywhere.

*At this point I want to make it clear that I am not a medical professional, I am following the advice of medical professionals who are guiding me in my own unique journey and it's recommend that you do your own research and ask advice from your doctor regarding your own medical situation.  I use an NHS doctor and functional doctors as they each approach health and wellness from different angles but with the same aim - to help you to feel better and reach optimal health and wellness*

Organic skincare and makeup has come a long way in recent years and one of the brands that I decided to try was Green People. They'd been on my radar for years but, in typical fashion, I had every intention of testing a few products but never needed to. Until now.

You'll notice that organic products are very rarely labelled as 100% organic ingredients and that's because there are stricter guidelines regarding what's allowed to go into them and if water is in the list, this can't be labelled as an organic additive. Natural ingredients may be included that also can't be confirmed to be organic and this is why some of the products I've been using range from 85% - 94% certified organic ingredients. There is lots of debate in this area and you can easily Google research articles for hours!

Green People Organic Lifestyle Skincare & Makeup

I tend to have an oilier skin and chose a foaming face wash and combination/oily moisturiser.  They smell beautiful!  Very light and fresh and clear essential oils, not artificial fragrance. The moisturiser was my main concern as it doesn't take a lot for me to react and break out, but it absorbs extremely easily and doesn't leave a residue on the skin.  A bonus is that it gives me enough movement while I'm applying it to do some facial massage but doesn't require more than one pump per use.  Very economical.

The foaming face wash isn't drying and also very cost effective and I'm yet to try the self tan lotion and volumising mascara and I'm still testing out some non-organic products before I make the final leap (and you know that mascara doesn't last once opened, so keep watching for those reviews in the coming months).

Have you tried Green People?  Do you have any organic favourites or is it an area that you've never given much thought to?  I'd love to know!
